WATCH YA MOUTH!

Hey Guys, how are you doing?

Before we begin, HUGE shoutout to Skyler Innovations for sending Watch Ya Mouth and it's first expansion for me to check out! Watch Ya Mouth is an extremely simple card game, the instructions are well written and there is a photographic diagram describing how to put on the mouthguards included in the box, the instructions card also has detailed cleaning instructions for the included mouthguards as well. Rules are as simple as putting on a mouthguard, reading a phrase, and having your partner successfully interpret it before the included 60 second timer runs out!

Let's start with the box, I absolutely LOVE the "matte" feel on the box, the first expansion for the game and one of my favorite games ever, Exploding Kittens, also features this "matte" box design. I think EVERY card/board game manufacturer, not to mention ANY PRODUCT MANUFACTURER in general, should give their product packaging this feel, it's high quality, feels good in the hand, and doesn't scratch easily at all.

Now, when you ask someone if they want to play Watch Ya Mouth, at least in my experience, they say "Well, how do you play?", you respond, "one player wears a mouthguard...", to which they interrupt you saying, "WAIT, WHAT!?". Where i'm going with this is that, most people's initial impression on Watch Ya Mouth is...disgust. A lot of people I asked to play(friends and family, not random strangers) were...completely disgusted. Now, this isn't true for everyone, especially the younger audience of people, some(notably my younger sister) were super pumped and couldn't WAIT to play!

In actual gameplay, it's really easy and fast to set up. The mouthguards are a bit difficult to put on at first, then, once you get the hang of it, they are very easy and quick to put on. Playing is SUPER FUN, the phrases vary in difficulty, from extremely easy, to earth-shatteringly hard. The company even has a "Community Card Program" where you can submit your OWN PHRASES to be included in the game, very cool indeed.

Now, one of my biggest gripes with Watch Ya Mouth is that the mouthguards included with the game are the SAME GENERIC bulk manufactured ones that EVERY MOUTHGUARD GAME IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING HAS EVER USED!!!!!!!! These mouthguards are not comfortable, can break pretty easily, and just generally feel CHEAP! I would like to see these redesigned to be more durable, and a lot more comfortable.

Final Verdict - 8.5/10

Even though it may raise some eyebrows at first, Watch Ya Mouth is an incredibly fun, well packaged, well thought out, and budget friendly game that's sure to spice up your next family game night!

Well then guys, thanks for reading and see you later!
