"Spy Ski School" Review

First Off, this is a nice overall package, a great story that could feel familiar at some points where you could see elements from this series and his other books being used as well. The Story was nice, but you could easily see the classic "Ben being is totally dumbfounded in spying up until the end where he totally shows everyone up" plot, but I'm not saying its an exact copy of the other books , or even that it is bad. One thing that felt great to me and I think the other readers will agree as well, was that "Mike Brezinski"(notice the "ski" at the end of his last name, nice touch), Ben's best friend, got a LOT more attention and we now see him as a kind person who cares about his friend a lot, rather than a guy who's constantly bored about everything and acts super tough. I did think that the "evil deed" that Ben had to stop from being done, was a bit classic to spy books, movies, and everything else, It wasn't really that original.

One thing that I love about the "Spy School" series(and all of Stuart Gibbs' books) that is nicely represented in this book, is the sense of realism, everything is almost exactly how it would be if whatever was happening in the book was happening in real life. Another thing that I noticed, was that the romance level went a little too high to be suitable for 8 year olds, and there are some things that younger kids would not be able to understand, but it's an absolutely PHENOMENAL read for 10 and up. Overall, this book was a nice and welcome addition to the series, you can see that Stuart Gibbs played it safe in using a familiar plot from most of his books that readers really seem to love, this is unlike his "FunJungle" books where he is constantly experimenting, I would like to see some difference in the "evil doing" in the next book, but It was an overall great read.
